Gateway School utilizes the Slingerland educational method that approaches
learning to read, write, and spell in a multi-sensory way.  Research identifies several important needs that must be met in order for the language based problems to be identified and therapized.  First, the student must have an assessment that includes observing the way he/she processes the written, spoken word.

Second, the child must have reteaching and repetition, small class size, flexible programming, private campus, ongoing teacher feedback, clear commands, individualized attention, and consistent behavior management. This student also needs daily multi-sensory reading, spelling and writing; needs never to hear "if only he/she worked harder." *
